My favourite things to do EVER are hanging out with my family, reading, singing, eating, making up games and stories, and covering previously quite mundane objects in glitter. Every so often I find myself doing all these things at the same time. I guess that’s what hanging out with three small children every day will do to a (previously quite normal) person…
I am passionate about the importance of reading for pleasure and from pregnancy onwards I’ve tried to do everything I can to encourage my sons (C, H and R) to share this passion, as I believe it is one of the greatest gifts I could give them in preparation for a fun, successful and just pretty-darn-cool life. (Well, that and smelling nice, wearing stripey things, using good stationery and baking cakes, but reading seems a good place to start.)
I loved being a primary school teacher until I had the boys, but my new dream is to work with pre-school children and their favourite grown-ups to help them enjoy reading for pleasure as well. Maybe it’ll be in an Early Years setting, maybe it’ll be baby and toddler classes, perhaps even after-school clubs and events for older children too? Oooh, and I’d LOVE to organise a local children’s literature festival for my town as well! This blog appears to be my wobbly, long-winded (boy, can I TALK!) route to hopefully achieving the above, via some delicious book reviews and other story-shaped treats. Thanks for popping by!

Thanks so much for following my blog. I too love reading and love love love the fact that both our kids will sit and read book after book, both with us and for themselves (even before Littlest H can read!). Children’s literature festival sounds fabulous, go for it. We are thinking of starting a book group for kids of our own book group girls – can’t wait to try it and see if we can engage 6 -7 year olds in thinking about what they are reading and why they enjoy it (or don’t).
